MEET THE FRONT OFFICE

Caitlin, LDA, CDA

Treatment Coordinator & Dental Assistant

Growing up, I knew I always wanted to work in the dental field. I graduated from Rochester Community & Technical College earning my Associates Degree as an Administrative Assistant, as well as a Dental Assistant in 2013. I learned very quickly that I have a strong passion for the field of Periodontics.

Working alongside Dr. Recker and the API team since has allowed me to gain incredible knowledge about Periodontics and also quality of care for patients. I continue to learn new things every day and I am always up for a challenge. My goal each day is to maintain strong relationships with my coworkers, referring offices, and especially patients. It is very important to me to help educate patients as well as referring offices so that patients get the treatment and care they desire.

Other than my career, I enjoy quality time spent with my husband Robbie and our two beautiful daughters! I personally enjoy staying active with golfing and boating in the summer, hunting in the fall, bowling in the winter, house projects year round, and currently expanding my perennial garden!

Barbara

Patient Care Coordinator

I worked as a nursing assistant for 10 years before deciding to take on a new adventure in the dental field in 2017. As a nursing assistant, I truly enjoyed my interactions with patients, helping them with their daily needs and hearing their life stories. By joining the dental field, I’ve been able to take these interactions to the next level by helping them brighten their smiles and help them improve their dental health. I am excited to take my dental knowledge to a new level working with Dr. Recker and Dr. Shurduk.

I grew up in the small town of Millville, MN where I enjoyed the outdoors and the country living way of life. I am the oldest of three having one brother and one sister. I live with my boyfriend, and we have 3 hyper lab’s Titan, Athena, and Oakley. I am also an Auntie to 3 nieces and 1 nephew.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends, crafting, reading, and cooking up a new meal. My favorite food is anything BBQ, Pizza, and anything salty. My favorite season is Fall as I love the beautiful colors and the cool crisp of the air.

Madison

Patient Care Coordinator

I have been interested in the dental field since I was in high school. At first, I wanted to be a hygienist, but quickly realized that I wanted to start off as an dental assistant instead. I started out working as an unlicensed Dental Assistant for a couple months, before realizing that my true passion, and area I would excel in, would be as a Patient Care Coordinator. Being able to help patients by making them feel comfortable during their visit, is something I love doing. Eventually, I found my way here to Dr. Recker’s office with his lovely API family! I am excited to be one of the first people you see when entering the office and maybe even the first person you talk to! Don’t be surprised if I act a little silly; it’s not you, it’s me.

I have lived everywhere! I was born in Washington and then lived in Texas for half my life, before I moved here to Minnesota in 2017. I absolutely love it here and never plan on leaving! I live with my partner, Eros, and our dog, Pumpkin, who’s an Aussie/Collie mix!

Aside from work and snuggling my dog, I love birdwatching, sleeping, playing games, and drawing; as well as other crafts to keep me busy.

A fun fact about me: I love geese and ducks! I’ve owned them as pets in the past and I have loved them ever since!

Kris

Patient Care Coordinator

I fell in love with the dental field when I began my career as a Certified Dental Assistant in Iowa. I enjoyed chairside assisting for 15 years alongside a doctor in Marion, IA. My family relocated to the Rochester area in 1999, which is when I found my new position as an Office Administrator in a local dental office. I realized very quickly that this position was my new career path in the dental field!

Since joining the API team, I am excited to learn a whole new side to dentistry, Periodontics!? It’s humbling when I can bring my professional experience to the table and learn the periodontal world through the process!

Aside from work, I enjoy time spent with my family and friends. My husband and I have two grown boys, which has allowed us(me) the opportunity to spoil our furbaby ‘Lucy’, to the fullest.

Kayla, RDH

Patient Care Coordinator & Dental Hygienist

In 2014 I graduated from RCTC with a degree in Dental Hygiene. Prior to that, I was a cosmetologist. My passion for the dental field combined with the customer service side of the beauty industry brought me to really love the office side of the dental world. I love being able to greet patients as they come into the office and get to know them during their treatment conferences. Giving patients a positive experience from start to finish is so important and is what makes me truly love my job.

Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two kiddos, traveling, riding our side by side, golfing, and making homemade espressos.

MEET THE CLINICAL TEAM

Katie RDH, LDA

Dental Hygienist & Dental Assistant

In 2007 I graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry. I came back home to Southeast Minnesota to complete my dental training at Rochester Community and Technical College. I earned my Dental Assisting license in 2009 and Dental Hygiene license in 2014.

Since 2009, I have had the privilege of working with Dr. Recker and specializing in periodontics both as a dental assistant and dental hygienist. What I have found to be most rewarding is seeing the improvement and progress our patients make from one visit to the next.

Outside the office, I am a Tennessee Volunteer fan, which makes orange my favorite color and “Rocky Top” my favorite song. While I have managed to coerce my husband and three sons into wearing Tennessee gear, I am still trying to talk Dr. Recker into allowing me to wear orange scrubs. No luck yet!

Molly LDA, CDA

Dental Assistant

I originally graduated from the Dental Assisting Program at Chippewa Valley Technical College in 2010 and worked in General Dentistry in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I grew up in southeastern Minnesota and found my way back to the Rochester area in 2014. That is when I began working with Dr. Recker at Advanced Periodontics & Implants. Since then, I gained a new knowledge for a different part of dentistry.

I have grown to have a passion for Periodontics and love the variety it brings to my career. I have learned so many new things and continue to learn each day. Knowing I get to be a part of improving other people’s lives each day, is the best part of my job.

Aside my devotion to my career, I enjoy helping with the family dairy farm, hanging out with my husband, and our pup Sammy. I also like to run long distance, spend time with family and friends, reading, a good cup of coffee, and I really love going out for breakfast!

I am a cat enthusiast and aspire to be a crazy cat lady when I retire. Until then, I will settle for wrangling up my three little boys and husband. I love blueberries.

Hannah RDH

Dental Hygienist

Born and raised in Minnesota, I always thought I’d venture out and live near the beach, but here I am! I married my high school sweetheart in 2017 and we now have two young girls.

I completed my Dental Hygiene degree at RCTC in 2015, and went on to complete my bachelors of Dental Hygiene in 2017 through Minnesota State, Mankato. It’s very rewarding establishing relationships with our patients and seeing the progress they continue to make, not only with their oral health but their overall health! The doctors and the API team are extremely passionate about helping their patients; I’m blessed to be a part of this team!

Outside of work I enjoy time with my family and two dogs. We spend most of our summer at the lake and our winters cozied up inside.

Amy BSN

I love making connections with patients and making them feel heard and comfortable. The team at Advanced Periodontics & Implants is professional, warm, and welcoming. I have thoroughly enjoyed my new career path as an RN in the dental field with dental radiology certification!

Elizabeth LDA, CDA

Dental Assistant

I was born and raised in Rochester, MN and I received my Dental Assisting degree from Rochester Community and Technical College in 2023. I always loved going to the dentist as a kid, and as I got older, I fell in love for the field of dentistry. I started with volunteering at the Salvation Army Good Samaritan Dental Clinic and quickly discovered I had a passion for dentistry. This led me to enroll in the Dental Assisting program at RCTC.

As I got near the end of the dental assistant program, I began shadowing different dental specialty offices to explore my options for the future.  I came across Advanced Periodontics & Implants and 15 minutes into shadowing Dr. Recker and his team, I knew I wanted to work in Periodontics – specifically at API! I continue to volunteer regularly at Good Samaritan Dental Clinic, but API has certainly stole my heart! I love coming to work everyday and taking care of my patients. Making them feel at ease during their time with us is my top priority!

When I’m not at work, I am able to keep myself busy.  I just bought a new home in Stewartville, MN and enjoy making updates to make it more like home. I love chasing around my puppy Finnigan, as he certainly keeps me on my toes everyday! I love cooking and baking, DIY projects, gardening, and hanging by the pool during the summer. In the winter months you can find me cuddled up in bed binge watching tv with a cozy blanket, my dog, and a cup of hot chocolate!

Tara RDH

Dental Hygienist

I come to Advanced Periodontics & Implants with over 25 years experience in general dentistry. I attended the RCTC Dental Hygiene program after being influenced by my grandfather who was a local dentist. I am excited to bring my knowledge and skill set to API and share them with my patients! I feel I am able to relate to my patients and develop long term relationships while delivering the best possible care with a compassionate manner. While you are in my chair you are my top priority, I want to give you an experience that makes you feel comfortable, heard and stress-free.

My husband and I are both from SE MN and continue to make it our home. We have 3 grown children in the local area as well as one grandson who I adore! I enjoy traveling, especially to Arizona to spend time with my brother and his young family. I also enjoy crafting, walks, reading and of course finding any extra time I can to spend with family! I look forward to seeing you at your next visit!
